The Blizzard Entertainment production, Diablo III, was released on May 15, 2012, to audiences everywhere. According to their own Web site, it is "an epic story about the High Heavens, the Burning Hells, and the hapless and heroic human beings caught between them." Five character classes are available to players: the Barbarian is a carry-over from Diablo II; the Demon Hunter, Monk, Witch Doctor, and Wizard are all new to Diablo III. Skills for each class are broken down to Primary (using the left mouse button), Secondary (using the right mouse button), Defensive (the 1 key), Class Skill 1 (the 2 key), Class Skill 2 (the 3 key), and Class Skill 3 (the 4 key). There are also Passive Skills which are always in effect if chosen. Skills are selected for customizing your character's attack and defense abilities, tailorable to various situations. The addition of Skill Runes adds further customization to your character's selections.
Players can acquire followers as the game progresses as well, which help you fight in battle but which also each carry their own unique storylines if you choose to converse with them. You can also enter discussions with other non-player characters (such as at Tristram or the Hidden Camp) and learn their stories. Jewels work very much like they did in Diablo II, but players also have the ability to work on crafting items (armor, weapons, etc.), which may sometimes yield its own exciting awards. With improved controls and faster, slimmer, meatier combat, Diablo III takes the legacy left from past games and builds upon that.
A meteor has crashed down from the skies and landed at the beleaguered town of Tristram. Your character begins play approaching the site of the meteor's fall and learns of the events that have transpired. The dead walk, the town is nearly overrun, and the wise Deckard Cain (from the earlier Diablo games) is missing in action. It is up to you, the brave hero, to save the town, rescue Cain, and attempt to return the world to safety and normalcy.
