11Puyo Puyo 2 (ぷよぷよ通, Puyo Puyo Tsū) is Puzzle game developed and published by Compile for the Sega Genesis / Megadrive and is one of the many ports of the Arcade version. It originally released in Japan on December 2, 1994.
Puyo Puyo 2 was originally released by Sega for the Arcade and became the biggest release in Japan since the arrival of Street Fighter II becoming highly profitable and addictive. Due to its highly acclaimed success, it became the most well known game in the series.
The success of the game prompted Compile to port the game to several other consoles and computers, including the Super Famicom, Mega Drive, PC Engine, Game Boy, Game Gear, Sega Saturn, PlayStation, Home PC's, WonderSwan, Neo Geo Pocket Color, and PlayStation 2.
It wasn't until March 10, 2008 that the game would see a release in the western market. As the Sega Mega Drive version was published to the Wii's Virtual Console service. However, it didn't recieve a localization or translation, and as of this day still hasn't with subsequent re-releases in compilations and ports.
The games soundtrack was composed by Einosuke Nagao, Masanobu Tsukamoto, Toshiaki Sakoda, and Tsuyoshi Matsushima.
