Puyo Puyo was produced by Compile in 1992. An incredibly addictive and original puzzle game in which players must form chains of four or more beans (known as 'Puyos') of the same color to make to disappear.Players can hinder their opponent by forming Puyo combinations; a successfully formed chain removes some some of the player's Puyos and causes 'junk' Puyos to fall into the opponent's play area. As these Junk Puyos are transparent, they cannot be used to form a chain and can only be destroyed when a nearby chain is created.

This is the original falling pieces puzzler that helped to spawn a flurry of clones in Japan. Get four same-colored puyos touching each other to make them disappear. Hinder your opponent by making multiple puyo combinations. This series has become Compile's main revenue generator, thus there have been a number of spinoff titles besides ports of the arcade titles like Madou Monogatari (a role playing game), Waku Waku Puyo Puyo Dungeon (an action RPG), and Puyo Puyo Wars (a strategy title).
