Qora Impressions & Review - Check Description!
Strid takes a look at a new game, completely fresh and never before seen by his eyes. Starts out okay, sorta slow. I start to talk more about the game at around 24:50.
Review: The game looks great, simple controls, quick at learning; overall, in those areas, great.
But (and I do mean but) the game starts out slow; like, half of the (editted) video is just the beginning, before it's even started. I played for an hour and twenty minutes and was able to edit it down to 40 from just cutting out slow walking or needless talking. Not to mention that the game will do all that's within its power to stop you from moving entirely. When there is a flock of flying creatures, whether bird or bat, the character will freeze in his tracks and wait for the 5-10 seconds for them to get all the way across the other side of the screen. There are several ways the game tries to make you "wait" or "look." Rocks and bushes take 3 hits each to destroy, the animation taking a second or 2, and having 3 rocks lined up in a row and 5 total on a screen, as well as cliffs to climb, is pretty simple addition. All in all, I'm sure minutes of this game are wasted by just the obstacles that are one button press to get around, not even a challenge. If the creators were going for a game, they didn't do the greatest. It's more of a piece of art that makes you stop if you don't look at it long enough, which is the best analogy I can think of.
The story is full of plot holes. You are a guy, nobody knows who because you're just moving in, who has a power unknown to him that lets him see the dead. Because of this power, a statue tells you to go and seek a truth in a temple. No reason, just go. Why? Why shouldn't I just go live peacefully in my house that's being built and never even think twice about a supposed "power"? No reason, you just should. Good enough for me! No, no it's not, there's no reason for the character to go to the temple, there's no reason for any of this.
And this brings me to another point, the character. The character is silent, a white character. It is not someone with a personality, he or she does not have a set walking speed, anyone can be him or her. You can't just make a silent character who is molded by the player have certain feelings then make it lack others. "You can imagine what you say to these people, whatever you want to say. Except when it comes to birds, no freedom, your character loves birds and has to stop!" No, not how it works. Let me, the player, stop the character to look at the scenery.
That being said, you may consider me wrong, love the game, love the story, love the music, everything, and play it everyday. I don't know the tastes of everyone, so go out and try it for yourself!
