Quake III Arena VR is the way it was meant to be played! (Quest 2)
So if you’ve never heard of Quake III Arena, it's because someone didn’t raise you right. But we won’t hold it against you here. Quake 3 Arena first came out in 1999 on the PC, and it was glorious! It was the first game to ditch a single player story driven experience in favor of a single player ladder of progressively more difficult battles with bots. The clear focus of the game was its multiplayer, which set the standard for many of the elements we expect to see in first-person shooters to this day.
Team Beef, the folks behind Doom 3 being playable on the Quest, just released a beta of Quake 3 Arena for the Quest. It’s fantastic! As a testament to the work Id Software did 22 years ago, the game holds up today and is arguably one of the best games I’ve played on the Quest 2 yet.
