Quantum Recharged Atari on PS5 First Play gameplay
No commentary gameplay and First Play impressions from PlayStation 5 version of Quantum Recharged.
๐ก About the Game โโโโโโโโโ
Quantum Recharged is the latest entry in Atariโs Recharged series, which reimagines classic arcade, console and computer games from Atariโs back catalog.
The original Quantum was a vector-based arcade game released in December 1982 that used a trackball. You used the trackball to encircle flying atomic particles, and if you touched a particle you lost a life. It was fun but somewhat difficult to encircle particles without dying.
Quantum Recharged takes the original gameplay and adds a great twist, whereby the circle you create generates a black hole that persists for a few seconds and can be strategically used to eliminate pursuing enemies. There are also added challenges to complete to extend and enhance the gameplay beyond the straight up arcade action.

Pros:
โ
great modern neon-like graphics and a smooth frame rate
โ
yet another great techno soundtrack by Megan McDuffee
โ
great way to experience a classic in a modern more accessible way
โ
price is right
Cons:
โ still somewhat shallow gameplay loop
Verdict:
๐ At $9.99, Quantum Recharged is a fun enough reimagining of an Atari classic, and definitely worth picking up for Atari fans. Other gamers should still try it, but may want to wait for a sale.
