Though I completed the VGA remake of Quest for Glory/Hero's Quest as a Fighter (taking the simplest approach while I learn the ropes), I'd much rather carry a Magic-User character through the full series... and you can't spell 'Mage" without EGA!

That's right: I'm starting all over *and* going back to the original 1989, pre-trademark issues Hero's Quest, with it's beautiful EGA graphics and text-parser!

One thing becomes clear almost right away: there are a lot more growing pains for a Magic-User than a Fighter! Starting out with minimal fighting ability, limited magic points, and the need to develop each magic spell as a separate skill, a Magic-User has a lot of numbers to make go up before he can start doing heroic things!

By the end of the episode, we've almost spent as many days in Spielburg just training than the Fighter spent completing the entire quest!
