This is a very common issue found on many ND Miata's and Fiat Spiders with the manual soft top. When putting the top down the leading front edge of the top makes contact with the plastic covers on the roll bar hoops. This causes damage on the roll bar hoops and even worse can cause catastrophic damage to your soft top leading to needing a replacement. This is the quickest and easiest solution to fix the problem for good!
