This is a quick guide on how I use OBS on the same system that I'm doing the recording, while still maintaining an intro and other scene switching.

This demonstration is on Linux, however, the same rules apply on Windows, Linux or Mac. OBS is the same software.

In short this is how I use OBS:

1. Create 3 or 4 scenes, such as background, intro, desktop capture.
2. Assign hot keys to each scene so I can switch between them with OBS minimized.
3. Assign hotkey to start and stop recording.
4. Disable default audio mixer items and add manual ones to each scene that requires audio.
5. Set OBS to save as .mov file for best compatibility with various editing software.
6. Set bitrate to 12500 to ensure decent quality of capture.
7. Enable monitoring and output on the intro video so I can hear when I play it in the background.

This video was recorded using these practices.
