Quick Look | Yager (2003) A game that started a revolution
Yager (or like in the US was called : Aerial Strike The Yager Missions ) was one of the first three games that started a revolution on PC ... what revolution , DVD-kind ... it was one of the first games on DVD (if you asking what where the other two : MetalGearSolid 2 and Silent Hill 3 ) ...
Not to mention, its one of the most forgotten games from a studio , that was called after its first made game ... later was know as "Yager Development" makers of "Spec Ops: The Line" and "Dreadnought" ...but Deep Silver screwed them over and cancelled theirs Dead Island 2 game ... going bankrupt a month later ... now they exist only because Tencent gave them money ... well OUCH on a big scale since all devs that taken Tencent China money are in Panic Mode...
So what about the game ... its structure is build around 20 single player missions ... each can be completed in 15 min ... each one is accompanied by Bink movies taken from the xbox version (since this is a Xbox 1 port) that well, break the immersion when from a high resolution game it jumps back to low rez graphics (same was with Max Pain 3 cutscenes)... Gameplay wise , its a arcade simulator in a space craft, made in a time when those games where popular like crazy ... story wise this game is all over the place , from training , to pirates , to space Nazis , to Aliens ...
But all this feels so dry and boring ... but its strangeness or better but cluelessness where the story will go next, hooks you in ...
The thing that will irritate you are the awful ammo pick ups and landing moments ... mainly the ammo pick-ups , that ruin the fun and flow of this game ... other then that, it has a stiff control scheme ...and those, how to put it ... you have to press "Left ALT" to use , awful control scheme...
and if you ask how to change the camera perspective ... you can't , the game changes it for you... so, you have to swing, with what is given to you at the precise moment ...
