The general rule of thumb is that fixed sights are better for every day carry (EDC) / personal defense pistols, and adjustable sights are the way to go on a gun you use for applications requiring more precise shooting, like competition. Always a bit of a rebel, Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb Savant decided to put adjustable sights by LPA on his daily carry SIG P226. He did this partly because he wanted to use it in competition, and partly because the adjustable sights enabled him to get the 226's point of impact harmonized with its point of aim. He was having problems achieving that with SIG factory fixed sights, despite the adaptability offered by the SIG sight number system. (See our earlier Quick Tip episode, "SIG Pistol Sight System Explained".) Now, he's got the windage and elevation perfectly fine-tuned. Bonus: the P226 still fits in his Safariland ALS holster, after a small amount of fitting.

Once these LPA sights are adjusted, they really hold their settings, so they're fine for an EDC pistol. If they can handle the knocks and bumps of the kind of competition Caleb is doing, they're more than robust enough for daily carry.
