Quick Tips for Dm's - Blending Settings
The Resident Loremaster has danced around and possibly even discussed this topic to some extent before...maybe. All the different dimensions and realities that get explored or created make things a little...timey-wimey.
But creating a setting where you blend themes, tropes and characteristics of multiple genres and settings can make even well worn and classic settings feel fresh and new, inspiring your players to make characters that fit the campaign you're going for and even expand upon it.
While it does involve a fair bit of homebrew, engaging in such a process is something all storytellers, dm's and worldshapers will eventually cross paths with.
But, as with anything, it's possible to overdo it. And slapping together every last thought can lead to too many things competing for time and conflicting with the setting, thus leading to nothing given proper development since EVERYTHING will need to be considered to some extent.
