This video is part of a much larger set that encompasses the Ship Showcase playlist. This is the fiftieth video that I recorded.

Ships in this series: Metallic Dawn, Metallic Dawn II

This ship is like the Meltcraft that you saw in R-Type Final and also stages Z3.0 and Z7.1 in R-Type Final 2. The red weapon is a horizontal liquid metal construct. The blue weapon is a pair of constructs that extend at 45 degree angles. The yellow weapon makes a vertical construct from the Force. None of the Force's weapons extend the length of the screen, so you have to be close to hit with them. The constructs also break and have to reform when they hit enemies, environment, or destructible bullets. The missiles are Bydo style Homing Missiles, and as usual, are good for all occasions. The Bits are Mirror Shield Bits, same as the Shield Bits, just with a fancier name - highly defensive in that they can block regular bullets. The Metallic Force will turn into a separate ship when detached, and will also fire a Wave Cannon blast when you charge one up. The Wave Cannon is a bolt of liquid metal, and is fairly powerful when coupled with the detached Force.

This stage is a subspace highway to the Bydo dimension. It first showed up in R-Type Tactics/Command, and the backgrounds were just as boring there as they are here. This stage is really just an empty void with no floor or ceiling, so take that as you will.

You find yourself surrounded on the left and right side of the screen sometimes, but here's some advice - when the Gains robot appears on the left side of the screen, hurry up and get to the extreme left side and you'll be safe to shoot it down. Your ship's hitbox won't touch the Gains when you're over there. When the Tablock missile bots show up, you can get to the left, and the one that shows up behind you will move forward, allowing you room to get to the extreme left and keep them in front of you.

The boss is Sin-G, and there are a few ways to handle it. You can be brave and reckless with the Force behind your ship while you try to dodge the lasers and destructible fireballs - I'm not good enough to do that. You can use a ship with a continuous laser beam, get to the top right with the Force behind you, and keep shooting to the left, destroying the fireballs, and timing the boss out - the Leo and Leo II with the red weapon work well for this. Lastly you can get a ship with a continuous vertical beam and hover over the weak point while your laser forms a shield against the fireballs and damages the boss while you stay at the top of the screen, just don't be too far left or the boss will crash into you. The Platinum Heart is great for this, but the Metallic Dawn works well enough, albeit not as good.
