This is my favorite Rachmaninoff' solo piano piece, played by himself. If i'd need to pick one piece to present his talent to other people - it would be exactly this one piece and this one recording of it. As it happens, this recording is massively different from the other youtube video which claims to be the same thing - https://youtu.be/M8RyWFA7PSY . Which one of the two is actually Rachmaninoff playing, or perhaps them both are being so just recorded in very different moments of his life - is for the listener to decide.

Among the easy ones to notice are different tempo variations, different accents (like very last note being less accented in this recording than in the other one, among many others), and smoothness of crescendos in this one as opposed by somewhat more "explosive" crescendos in the other one. As far as i know Rachmaninoff's style, this one definitely sounds like being him, overall.
