By using this weapon in this particular way, they're trying to force my client to crash - this will affect everyone in the area - if their computer isn't powerful, they will crash the game, and maybe even the players full computer.
That is a denial of service attack on players of Fallout 76. Luckily in this case, my graphics card is fairly powerful - and this doesn't crash me - usually. Sometimes it does.
