After the incredible rescue of the crew of Apollo 13, spaceflight was back in the spotlight. It was now up to Alan Shepard, America's first astronaut, to put the program back on track. But his journey didn't start there.

This program contains excerpts from "Failure is Not an Option" and "Beyond the Moon: Failure is Not an Option 2" on the History Channel, and "MoonShot" on PBS. RadiOdyssey and SciMAX Media claim no ownership or copyright of these materials, as this program is intended for educational purposes only.

Background tracks are from Descent: Freespace, released for the PC by Interplay and Volition in 1998.

If you have any questions or comments, please keep them relevant. This program is intended to celebrate the legacy of the fine men and women who gave their blood, sweat, and tears (and sometimes even their lives) in the great odyssey of manned spaceflight. Troll posts and hoax theorists will be immediately deleted.
