Rail Chase - Classic Arcade Rail Shooter (Sega 1991)
7A classic arcade game with similarities to other Sega rail shooters of the same era, including the original Jurassic Park arcade, and even the Out Run series with their use of parallax scrolling.
Rail Chase starts out with a pair of treasure hunters who've found the lost Jewels of Guaramure, in what appears to be some sort of an ancient Mayan temple.
After one of the treasure hunters grabs the artifact, the floor crumbles beneath the pair, dropping both the Jewels of Guaramure and themselves into a mine cart that awaits them below.
The entire game encompasses the pair weaving through a daunting set of rail tracks, where they battle strange looking machines, natives, and other treasure hunters.
Besides Rail Chase's parallax scrolling, the game's scenery is often set in a lush jungle setting similar to that of Jurassic Park Arcade.
Aiming in the game was controlled by by a pair of twin joysticks, and the machine itself was mechanical, dipping and turning with each successive movement of the mine cart.
