4In this episode, the Boy infiltrates a tea party and learns a valuable lesson that you can’t really steal from yourself so trying to cover up your self-larcenous ways just ends up involving unnecessary drama. However, the fetch quest for the water dragon is much shorter (and doesn’t involve the Boy’s super drowning skills), and so the Boy finally gets to see Kisaburo’s backstory and the ravages of dementia. Fortunately, Kisaburo has a moment of lucidity to sing Mori No Kokoro Part 3 before dying and we meet up with Uma to drain more water in the hospital so that the Boy and his Mom can go meet Sue in the Forest.
Rakuen is an adventure game by Laura Shigihara about an ill young boy who journeys with his mother between the hospital where he is being treated and the world of his storybook Rakuen. Within the fantasy world they seek the forest guardian Morizora, who will grant one wish to anyone who can overcome the challenges of the forest. In searching for the song to wake Morizora the boy and his mother help their fellow patients and their fantasy counterparts, bringing peace and happiness to their lives, and helping the boy and his mother come to terms with the boy’s own illness.
