Rakuen Playthrough - Part 3 (No Commentary)
3In this episode, the Boy explores the backstory of Winston and Gemma and catches a mild case of death by drowning (mere steps from the stairs of his salvation). The Boy makes a miraculous recovery through sheer determination and presses forward to learn the first part of Mori No Kokoro from Gemma. Then he snoops around the hospital to water plants so he can get high (in the sky mind you, he’s on enough drugs in the hospital) and open rusted cabinets for spare change so that he decorate the patient’s lounge, all before returning to the Forest with Mom to solve the mystery of the music box for Tony.
Rakuen is an adventure game by Laura Shigihara about an ill young boy who journeys with his mother between the hospital where he is being treated and the world of his storybook Rakuen. Within the fantasy world they seek the forest guardian Morizora, who will grant one wish to anyone who can overcome the challenges of the forest. In searching for the song to wake Morizora the boy and his mother help their fellow patients and their fantasy counterparts, bringing peace and happiness to their lives, and helping the boy and his mother come to terms with the boy’s own illness.
