RandomPlays-17: Resident Evil 0: Dolphin
1When Resident Evil 0 was first announced on magazines and on the internet, I was extremely excited for it. It's no surprise that I'm a huge fan of survival horror games. If you look at my playlist, you'll find a few survival horror video game walkthrough and I plan to make a lot more in the coming future. But back on topic. Resident Evil 0 is a prequel to the survival horror game Resident Evil. Originally this game was supposed to be released for the Nintendo 64. I remember watching screenshots on the internet and magazines. It clearly showed that you play as a new character (although familiar) Rebecca Chambers from S.T.A.R.S. team. As I waited to hear more updated news, Capcom unfortunately announced that the game would be released on the new upcoming Nintendo system the Gamecube.
Fast forward a few years and Resident Evil 0 is finally released. Right from the start, the tone is set and the claustrophobic survival horror game kicks into gear. However, the game has a twist to it. Instead of playing solo, the game introduces a co-op A.I. partner system that allows you to swap between Rebecca Chambers and a new character Billy Coen. I'll definitely admit that the co-op swap system was not user friendly. It took some time to get adjusted and in the end it was a pretty decent system that had potential to be better. Despite this minor issue, it still felt like a Resident Evil game. More importantly, this game reveals a lot about the origin of the virus and it's outbreak. Overall if you enjoy the Resident Evil series, it's a definite buy. One day, I plan to create a walkthrough for this game. For now, enjoy this little clip.
