Ranno’s up-special is usually used as a recovery tool, but it can be canceled in two different ways that make it much more versatile. The first is by pressing down B during his upward trajectory. This will cause him to make a sharp 90-degree turn, and come down towards the stage, hitting the ground with a bang and damaging anyone caught in the shockwave.
You can also input an aerial while he’s going up, causing Ranno to turn into a ball of death, shooting poison darts that add poison stacks to enemies hit by them.
These can be used to mix up recovery, or offensively to reposition and catch your opponent by surprise.
