Warface: Global Operations [ANDROID]
DEVICE: Samsung Galaxy Tab S4
This was actually alright. It has potential.
In terms of movement and shooting, it feels really good. Map design seems decent. Traditional CoD style deathmatch. The leveling and upgrade system for weapons is pretty cool too... BUT.
That upgrade system is where you win or die. The last match in this video is a loss. It is also the match I played after applying (buying) upgrades for a weapon. It's hugely obvious that there are other players on the field that are difficult to kill simply due to their higher, or your lower power level. Through no effort of their own, they become bullet sponges, where as you suddenly feel like you have paper skin.
So the potential is this... the base game is here, and it has been built really well. For a mobile game, I will go so far as to say I even "liked" the way the guns felt.
But this is clearly following the path of shameless mobile marketing... unrealistic "free" material farming, or pay2win $$$ micros-transactions.
I will go so far as to say the core game design is better than CoD Mobile. MUCH better. But unlike CoD, you have an increasingly growing loss factor the more you play whilst refusing to pay2win.
I didn't really think Warface was a thing anymore. I remember, before all the scandal and financial issues and reputation drop of Crytek, it was a thing on PC. I vaguely remember what it was like when I tried it during the closed beta.. alpha.. something?
The incarnation I tried was more like a clone of America's Army crossed with Call of Duty, and it did not quite work. I see there is a free2play PC version still out there that has resulted in this Mobile port cash grab.
Again, so sad to see so much potential wasted on yet another throw away ultra-greed pay2win game.
