Join me as I play the mediocre broken game that is Rayman 1 on the PS1. An almost good game which suffers from being a game that was supposedly not play tested.
In the good ol' days of Ubi Soft, and early PS1, Rayman was one of the potential PS1 Sony Mascots, though he lost out to Spyro, Lara and Crash.
The 2d formula for Rayman was improved upon in Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends years later one newer hardware. This Rayman original gameplay showcases my frustration at watching the first few levels of Rayman go from loveable Follow the Yellow Brick road style happiness, where everyone eats rainbows and dances all day in happy land; to deaaaaaaaath.
The difference between how good and balanced the first few levels are compared with the Band Land Levels is similar to the tone shift between Wizard of Oz and return to Oz.
I also refer to Rayman as being like a Diclonious from Elfen Lied, which is probably the most obscure reference I've made on this channel yet. Judging by the sentient creatures that Rayman exploits in this journey, its clear to see that he is secretly a demon, and is actually the true Mr Dark muahhahahahahha!
