This video was captured using the actual game on an actual Sony Playstation. Loading times have been removed for your consideration and enjoyment.

I often times don't pick up games based on the pictures on the back, but this game was an exception. It only cost me 4 bucks, and looked kinda cool. Come to find out that this was a late budget title release for the PS1. It was originally only 20 bucks, but I think I'da been pissed if I had spent that much on it. At 4 bucks, it was just the right price.

That being said, the game is not at all bad. It's actually good, but it's short. Playing the arcade mode which I do here, you can complete the game easily within an hour. However the championship mode will take you much longer as you must use winnings to upgrade your cars. It kinda sucks that you have to do races all over again alot of times to get enough money to upgrade your car enough to be able to compete well enough to finish first. At least in the championship mode there is no lame time limit like there is in the quick race mode as shown in the video. The graphics are pretty nice. The sound is good and bad. The sound effects are great, the announcer is repetitive and annoying, and the music straight up blows. The really bad thing is that you can't turn the stupid announcer or the crappy music off. Normally the list of negatives would have totally ruined this title for me, but there is one more thing. The game play is excellent. This is the Gran Turismo of R/C cars if there ever was one. Unlike games like Re-volt and R/C Revenge, the camera does not follow behind the car, or even follow along side like R/C Pro-am on the NES. The perspective is that of a person who is controlling the R/C car and there is no option to change that perspective. The other thing that differs from other R/C titles is that the dual analog settings are that of a R/C car. The left stick is throttle and brake while the right stick steers. Something that's not so realistic is the boosting, but using the boost at bad times can cost you the race. Another thing that ain't so real is the cheering crowd. I doubt that there are that many people lining up outside the gate to see a R/C car tournament.

This game is by no means a substitute for games like R/C Revenge. It is a nice but short game. It is also unique as it for the most part successfully attempts to be a R/C car simulation. If you like anything R/C and see this game cheap, pick it up.
