RE2 Sourcenext / But the Status screen doesn't lag on Win10
0According to different testers and from what I gathered from the speedrun forums, this game has severe lag issues whenever the Status screen is accessed. This is caused by the way the game draws lines for the ECG; it locks a surface, draws a line in software mode, then unlocks and proceeds to the next primitive.
The ECG draws lines that are simple pixels, which means this operation is performed several times in a row, something that Windows 10's DirectDraw emulator doesn't like very much.
My fix changes this behavior and lock/unlocks just once per sequence of lines, keeping the overheat at a bare minumum.
This video (courtesy of dfactor, who recorded it on my behalf) shows that the game now runs perfectly under Windows 10, even on HD resolution (it can do up to 2560x1440 just fine).
