RE2 Sourcenext fix + translation / But I gotta go fast
0This is a quick update to the translation status, in all matters of speaking.
First of all, the save screen has been reworked extensively to bring back the original style, but with a better flavor. This change isn't just cosmetic, it's essential for the game to run at decent framerates. The original system would use a Windows font to render most of the strings, which causes MASSIVE lag in any resolution higher than 640x480. Using straight hardware acceleration by actually drawing with the game's font fixed the issue altogether.
Next fix: save files are not formatted with a time stamp, rather than "Player/Save/Room", which made almost no sense since that stuff is showed at the bottom of the screen when you select a save file. There have also been other fixes, like the removal of that confusing "Update" option, which never made sense to begin with and it's pointless now that time stamps are used.
There was also another small fix to when the game saves, which had buggy timers for when you overwrite data that would cause the typing to be much slower.
As for the rest of the update, the ECG has been fixed to scale properly with higher resolution. The bug with scaling was caused by the fact that the ECG was originally drawn with lines, a feature that is apparently missing on DirectDraw, which required whoever ported this on PC to write a software rasterizer for the occasion. Of course, the rasterizer wouldn't do anything past doubled resolution because they never planned to have any of those.
Finally, a new feature just for the lulz: a turbo mode. This is a feature I added for faster debugging, so it may or may not be there in the final release. It depends on how badly it breaks the game under regular conditions, since stuff like audio doesn't scale to match the new speed.
