node_modules is a directory created by Node.js when you use package managers like npm or Yarn to install dependencies for your project. It contains all the external packages and libraries that your project depends on, including their sub-dependencies. These packages are specified in your project's package.json file.

Is it a good idea to push node_modules to Git?

In general, it's not considered a good practice to include the node_modules directory in your Git repository. Here are a few reasons why:

Size: The node_modules directory can become quite large, especially for projects with numerous dependencies. Including it in your Git repository can bloat your repository's size and slow down cloning and updating operations.

Reproducibility: The purpose of using a package manager and version control system is to ensure that different developers and environments can reproduce the same project setup. Including node_modules is unnecessary for this goal, as package managers can install the required packages based on the package.json and package-lock.json (or yarn.lock) files.
