The main sources of biofertilisers are bacteria, fungi and cyanobacteria. In one of the biology class based on biofertilisers, teachers gave a list of microorganisms to student and students were asked to classify organisms into different categories. Below is the list given by teacher :
Beijerinckia, Anabaena, Frankia, Bacillus polymyxa, Glomus, Rhizobium, Rhodospirillum, Nostoc.
The students classified the microorganisms as follows:
A - Saprotrophic, photoautotrophic nitrogen fixer in the fields of cotton
B - Photoautotrophic only
C - Forms root nodules with legume/non-legume plants
D - Symbiotic association of cyanobacteria and plants
E - Releases phosphate from bound and insoluble states
