What was done:
- craft drying racks
- start drying some
- mine for hematite
- craft furnace
- craft a crushing table and hammer
- smelt charcoal, stone and iron
- hammer iron plates
- craft an iron mesh and a sluice box
- hammer iron cluster into rocky chunk
- sluice iron rocky chunk into chunk
- smelt iron chunk into two ingots

I think the seed is a good one as there is jungle and desert within 1000 blocks of spawn; it is 3021996247277630643.
