While I messed this up a bit by entering the monument in the incorrect place killing the elder guardian was very easy.

What was done:
- build a second arm 18 blocks to the right
- place slabs to form a reverse C
- place 3 blocks of sand in the C
- drop down onto the monument
- build a safe space - this time in the wrong place
- wait for mining fatigue, drink milk and go into the monument
- place a barrage of doors
- easily kill the second elder guardian
- get out of the monument and get to safety
- cook the two sponges
