🏹Realms of Ruin brings Squad combat & Capture points multiplayer gameplay to Warhammer Age of Sigmar
This is Warhammer Age of Sigmar Realms of Ruin multiplayer gameplay from the open beta and my first impressions after playing several matches between the Stormcast Eternals and Orruk Kruleboyz in 1vs1 battles with Squad combat, Heroes, passive resource collection and Victory Capture points.

Despite the look of warriors covered in gleaming full suits of armor you shouldn’t mistake this fantasy based Warhammer game for its dark sci-fi version from the 40th century. Another thing that might give you that wrong impression is the multiplayer gameplay which is very similar to what multiplayer in Dawn of War II looked and played like. A single base HQ on each side, map with capture points, two different resources, upgrades and unit abilities. This is also similar to the original Dawn of War and Company of Heroes as well as Ancestors Legacy, Halo Wars or The Valiant for that matter.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin will of course offer more than just multiplayer as it has a whole story-driven campaign ready as well as four different factions. Two of which, the Stormcast Eternals and Orruk Kruleboyz we saw and could play in the open multiplayer beta and in the many promotional videos.
The units I played with and against had a very expressed rock paper scissors system of balancing. Or maybe better called the shield, arrow and axe system where each type of unit has some advantage over another unit type and is weak against its own counter. Crossbow units would damage unprotected axe wielders quickly but not do much against shielded enemies who on the other hand got trashed by those using axes. The heroes have their own place of course as do war machines and monsters you can recruit as you tech up during a match.
Upgrades help the lower tier units keep their place in the fight while the most expensive and advanced units also have very powerful abilities that you have to target and activate at just the right time and they also cost some resources to use.
