So, this isn't a one time event.
This is becoming commonplace.
This is no joke.
The real estate cartel is using the new dual agency rules enforced last year as a way to NOT show their clients house unless you pay them or at least to agree to pay them.
Example: I call the listing agent. No call back. Instead the agent forwards my number without consent to another agent in the same office who calls me and says they will only show the property if I sign an exclusive buyer agreement. I state I already have another realtor in Vancouver. They say the listing agent is not available to show the property and that if they show it and I write another offer through my agent that they won't get paid anything and therefore will not show the place, explaining that they can only show up if being paid - or for the potential to be paid through any potentiality sale commission.
Really? I wonder how the person trying to sell their house through a listing agent would react to knowing this? This is unreal.

The person who has listed their house does not know that this is going on, that agents are refusing people who are interested in buying a place due to commission control.
Dual agency rules have nothing to do with an listing agent not being able to show a house. You sign the new forms on site that state they have informed you they do not represent you and that anything you tell them will be shared with their client, which is fine. You can also refuse to sign and verbally acknowledge and still be shown the place by the listing agent without breaking the law.
And like I said. I am getting this about 50% of the time right now. Does this make you want to use a realtor?
