I've enjoyed this game quite a bit, it reminds me of the old classic space RPG Escape Velocity with the 2D plane space battles. This mission requires you to blow up the enemy flagship and then survive against the waves of enemies that come in- but if you've made it this far (and have good gear) this shouldn't be all that hard. Also, superdreadnoughts (including the final boss!) cannot hit you with their broadside cannons if you are right up next to them, making whittling them down a cinch.

I've stuck with the Sturville (the mercenary frigate) since I got it because it offers the most turret/broadside space while keeping maximum speed and maneuverability. Bigger ships can hit much harder, but smaller, faster ships makes high paying missions like merchant dead drops incredibly easy to pull off. I put some high level mining lasers and neutron beams on the ship because beam weapons seem to be extremely effective in this game.

If you're trying to prepare your ship for endgame, I recommend going to the Charybdis system and grinding on delivery missions. You can earn anywhere from 300k-1mil credits per merchant job, which often don't require any combat beyond simply running away from enemies. The close proximity of all the planets makes this whole process particularly easier than anywhere else.
