Rebels vs. Combine Mortar Synths - Garry's Mod
A very early state of an upcoming gmod SNPC, Mortar Synth
Behavior: Uses air nav mesh, flies to its destinations at a velocity of 400. Can hear world sounds and investigate their source. Uses default AI.
Combat behavior: Approaches towards the enemy until the desired distance has reached. Has two attack behaviors:
Mortar: Fires a contact grenade towards enemy, accurately calculating the trajectory path.
Energy beam: Charges electricity between its hands, forms a particle and launches that straight to enemy. Used in cases when the mortar grenades cannot reach its target.
To-do:
1-) Make mortar synth turn around its target if the enemy is facing us (COND_ENEMY_FACING_ME)
2-) Make mortar synth damage outputs compatible with map i/o system
3-) Better import pathfinding behavior, fix the cases where the movement is constantly being interrupted.
4-) Back away when the enemy is near the mortar synth (MSYNTH_ATTACK_NEAR_DIST)
5-) Make mortar synth mix energy beam attack and mortar grenade to fire a stronger, vigorous projectile.
6-) Add unique sounds for the mortar synth.
7-) Add a better death effect for the mortar synth, including gibbing.
