"Fight the enemy, not the UI." - Hannibal of Carthage

By rebinding the builder unit commands to the QWER scheme, you are able to take one of the most integral parts of Dawn of War and generalize it across multiple races. This enables you to explore these races much more easily without having to relearn the keybinds.

I first noticed this with the World Eaters faction - the keys were already set up this way. I decided to see if it was possible for all the races to be set up this way. As it turns out, it is.

CodeNameReaper actually had a mod which worked with a previous version of Unification https://www.moddb.com/games/dawn-of-war/addons/unification-gridkeys it provides a key rebinding basis for much of the game. You will have to extract the LUA file from the mod and overwrite your own.

My work may be found here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ahdHD64mleAe3v96i-vpchkU6R5ozhfU

I have attempted to organize the Key bindings so that races are grouped together and formatted. This makes it easier to find a specific keybind, as well as make it easier to read.

.BAK is a backup of the original keybinds. .GSWAP is default keybindings aside from moving the builder select key. .ASDF changes most keybinds to a gridkey arrangement.

Download the desired keybind file, delete the .BAK, .GSWAP, or .ASDF at the end of the file, then drag to and overwrite your existing .LUA file.

However, you can do this yourself if you want to customize differently, or use my files as a starting point.

To edit your hotkeys, find the keydefaults.lua file. I use unification new races, so my file path is located below. Depending on what mods you use, it should be located somewhere similarly. I highly recommend making a backup. If you forget, or need a backup, the google drive link has one labeled .BAK.

Computer/YourHardDrive/Program Files (x86)/Steam/Steamapps/common/Dawn of War Soulstorm/Profiles/Profile#/unification_new_races/KEYDEFAULTS.LUA

You can edit KEYDEFAULTS.LUA with notepad, just do not change the file extension from LUA.

Note, I have rebound many of my other keys using ASDF/Gridkeys style. It can't be perfect, because many keys are mirrored in different races, but it at least gets most of the buildings correct . My understanding is that Gridkeys will be included in Unification Mod 7.0 The ASDF keybinds are a work in progress, and will change over time as I make improvements.
