Recreating "Taskmaster" at home
My wife Fran is the quintessential Taskmaster superfan. At her insistence, we watched the first nine series back-to-back, daily, over the course of about two months - even though she'd seen them all before. Eventually, what started out as a thought of "maybe I could get her a custom wax stamp - that would be a nice present" snowballed and turned into this. The product of three months' planning and preparation, invitations accepted and declined, Covid complications and cancellations: Taskmaster at Home, probably the most elaborate surprise I've ever planned for Fran.
I scraped this together with odds and ends, extra borrowed cameras, a few purchased props, a lot of planning and a Sony dictation recorder. Professionally produced this ain't! But it's fun and it made Fran laugh - which was always the goal :^)
Apologies for the audio quality. The wind picked up on the day itself and the only way I could remove the worst of the wind rumble was to pull that frequency out of the sound recordings - so it's all a bit thin and reedy. Oh well, you live and learn. Maybe next time...
