The Sniper boasts the longest range of any infantry in the game. Combine that with the Soviets' lack of a long-ranged infantry counterpart, and a good Sniper can dominate open areas of the battlefield. Headshots are encouraged like in a normal FPS game to deal more damage, but even bodyshots deal 100 damage, so basic infantry die in 2 shots.
The Sniper is strictly anti-infantry, but it does not mean they are useless in vehicle fights; he is equipped with a laser pointer that deals no damage, but causes Soviet vehicles and aircraft to take more damage from other Allied troops.
To offset the Sniper's lack of mobility, they can use an IFV to move around the map and pick the best spots. Be wary, as the mouse sensitivity is different than when on foot, so aiming at targets may be difficult at times.
