If you're playing through challenging parts of the game, you would find out that not only just shooting your enemies isn't always the best thing. You have four abilities that can help you out. Impact, shockwave, berserk, and shell. Impact releases a huge pulse of force that knocks back and damages objects and enemies in front of you; it's best to use it when something is blocking your path or when there's a shit load of enemies in front of you. Shockwave picks up the enemies around you leaving them vulnerable for a short time, so you better have a shotgun handy and blast the fools before they recover. Berserk increases weapon damage, fire rate, and gives infinite ammo for a short period of time; I would always recommend using it against an enemy that soaks up bullets like sponges. Heavy weapons like rocket launchers and charge launchers are affected as well, so fire away! Shell is a bubble shield where you are protected from ANY kinds of projectiles, and you can shoot at enemies while you're inside. Just don't let your foes break in like unwelcomed guests. These abilities can be upgraded to increase their effectiveness, like the shockwave doing bleeding damage to enemies caught in it.
