Many fans wondered what happened to Johann Schmidt following the events of Captain America: The First Avenger and were surprised to see him make an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War. While Red Skull claimed to be guarding the Soul Stone and told Thanos he’d be required to sacrifice Gamora, was that really the case? Is it possible that the Red Skull was actually playing the long game and trying to ensure he could claim an Infinity Stone of his own in the future?
