Red Sun: Raven Test Flight At Stonehenge - Ace Combat 7
1,847Long have we waited. And the Raven is everything we were promised. Massive, aggressive, beautiful, with weapons that lend it a unique playstyle, and performance that beggars belief.
I'll do a full review of it this week, but I have plenty to say already. There's far more potential to it than I managed to extract here. Its maneuverability lives up to Huginn and Munin's at mid-low speeds, it's a leaf in the wind. It's quite dangerous to use that agility at low altitude, because it's massive size will punish you for things you can get away with on smaller planes - you will clip a wing on a bad roll. And while that's a disadvantage for ground attack, the PLSL cannon more than makes up for it.
The UAVs were the obvious choice for a test, being truly unique. At the moment, their performance is lacking as the UAV damage/reload/endurance parts aren't available yet (?), but the potential is there for them to be a truly fire-and-forget option for most targets. Also, they are loyal bois, even when you slam them into the dirt.
All that said, and while it'll destroy unlimited MP (though that has its own issues right now, more on that later) and be a phenomenal aircraft for any mission, it won't dethrone the PLSL Su-57 as the king of single player. Its cannon has a lower rate of fire and, most importantly, a far lower range, on par with the regular gun. And while it's a straight upgrade and absolutely lethal, even with missile and a SPW in parallel, it simply will not be able to clear maps as quickly and efficiently. The SPW PLSL got a range nerf of their own, but their new max of 5 kilometers is still the best slayer of... everything, AC7 has to offer.
But for Mihaly, for Sol, for its drone brethren, and for any poor soul who crosses you in multiplayer... all hail the ADF-11F Raven, First of Its Name, King of the Skies.
