Introducing an idea for custom maps: Lives System :D
🔻Open video description for more information🔻
Using this technique, you can have the player attempt a puzzle or some task only a set number of times without dying. Essentially, a Lives System.

The gamerule keepInventory is very useful in puzzle maps but for a story-based experience in an adventure map, I always figured them to be kinda cheap since they make death a simple matter of backtracking with no penalty whatsoever.

In my attempt to make keepInventory still be punishing, I discovered the Player Death Detector; utilizing Command Blocks & Scoreboards to detect when a player dies, both in singleplayer & multiplayer. I also discuss a few ideas for custom maps using this technique :)

If you use these concepts in any video/custom maps, please let me know :)
If you have any feedback/questions, ask me in a comment :)

Minecraft is a sandbox videogame developed by Mojang that lets players do almost anything in (and with) 3D procedurally generated worlds.
