REKA - Pre-Alpha Gameplay and first impressions
I was lucky enough to receive a pre-alpha demo key for REKA, and this is a look at my first hour in the game.

Initial impressions/Mini-Review:
Graphically the game has that Slavic Folklore style imagery that adds a lot to the atmosphere. While the pre-alpha demo doesn't show a lot, what it does show works well. I completed everything except finding Yallia's friend in the demo, because I simply could not find them. Aside from that quest the remaining quests felt easy enough to figure out.
Gathering was pretty cool, although limited for the purposes of the demo. The bird animations for gathering mushrooms, berries, and grain were unexpected and beautiful.
The build mode is pretty easy to use, and if I was able to collect wood I'd of likely made an actual hut that I was happy with. Given the limited amount of building materials I had, and no real plan on what I wanted to build, I built some kind of monstrosity instead.
I enjoyed the cooking aspect and the way to find recipes by experimenting with dishes. I do hope that the recipes that are attached to your oven can be moved or reorganized so that they are actually useful.
I would like to see a map in the game, or perhaps the quest givers provide a bit more context or clues toward what they're requesting. In most cases it's simply a direction and little else.
I adopted a cat, and it was the cutest tabby ever. I think Reka will bring us a very polished crafting and exploration game upon release, and the demo certainly increased my excitement for it.
