In Secret of Mana for the SNES, there's an NPC character named Karon who will ferry your party from the desert to the Moon Palace. For whatever reason, you can kill him with magical attacks.

Before or after he ferries you to the palace, you can target him with damaging magic attacks. In fact, just before and after you interact with this character, you can often see your AI allies flinching for a moment, as if they are trying to attack this character (who happens to have the same sprite model as some enemies).

There's no reason to do this, and it doesn't affect the game much at all since you can always leave the screen and come back to respawn Karon. In fact, even if you kill him, you can still hop on the ferry and ride it, I'm pretty sure.

I like this glitch because of how useless and funny it is. Fun fact: If you use the Energy Absorb spell on Karon, you will find that he has exactly 125 HP!
