It's old news nowadays, but I thought it would be funny to bring it up. Let's talk today about the 2018-2019 Calder race, and how, heading into the season, many people touted two main guys as the potential leaders of the charge: The Vancouver Canucks' Elias Pettersson, taken 5th overall in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft and who broke the SHL junior scoring record, and the Buffalo Sabres' Casey Mittelstadt, taken three picks after Pettersson in the same draft, who had tore up the NCAA's Golden Gophers, Team USA at the World Juniors 2018, and who played some great games with the Sabres to end off the season. Back then, many people put these two together in comparisons, asking the questions on who was better. There were Petey supporters, but there were also a heck of a lot of Mittelstadt supporters too.
