The Evil Within is a survival horror game developed by the father of the genre; Shinji Mikami, creator of the Resident Evil series, and his team at Tango Gameworks. Published by Bethesda, The Evil Within is a supposed return to the roots of Survival Horror after the missteps of the later Resident Evil instalments.

The game follows the footsteps of Detective Sebastian Castellanos as he investigates the scene of a gruesome mass murder and discovers a mysterious and vengeful force. Ambushed and knocked unconscious Sebastian awakens to find himself plunged into a deranged world of hideous monsters and living nightmares that seems to twist and change at will.
