Remove Ranked PNGs From Fighting Games..
This discourse has been flowing around for a while ever since Tekken 7 I would say but I feel like ranks really started to take on this nasty effect in the player base with the dawn of the modern fighting game. Now for the first time an anime fighter comes out without a ranked mode and everyone is losing their mind. I thought rank doesn't matter. So why then are people fighting so hard for something that isn't supposed to matter? Do players even know what they want? Guilty Gear Strive is just now adding a ranked mode 4 years post launch and still retains a decent size playerbase, yet nobody nailed that game to the cross? I feel like ranked as it stands has done nothing but collectively hurt the players due to the hyperfixation over it and how much value we put over a PNG. It's done irrepairable damage and needs to be stopped.
One last point that i forgot to mention in the video that I thought I should add as well.. The best part about not having to worry about ranks is because it changes the focus on learning and improving at the game itself. Just you, your opponent and who will be able to make the better plays to come out the winner, and how will you take that experience going to the next fight. Thats what these games are about. Not a rank image that means nothing. #RemovePNGsFromFighters
