My Renoise remake / cover of the classic Amiga ProTracker MOD "Elysium", by Jester.
While recreating, I tried to remove the compromises that were the result of hardware and software limitations. This includes:
- trying to restore the notes that were removed to accommodate more important notes. The less important details that were removed were restored.
- using as many channels as needed so that notes are not cut off when a new note has to play (most noticeably on the drums, especially the snare)
- using proper volume envelopes instead of changing the volume of a note every line for fade in
- using actual delay effects instead of copy-pasting the same notes on a different channel at a lower volume.
The result should NOT be noticeably different from the original song. The changes should be very subtle. Or at least, that was the intention. This is not exactly a cover, but rather, a recreation using more modern software.
The notes are exactly the same as the original, and values that differ between ProTracker and Renoise (such as the note volume, fade in effects) were calculated on a calculator, meaning all note values are accurate without doing any guess work. Still, I cannot guarantee that the result will be exactly the same as when the original MOD is played on a MOD player.
There was no interpolation done on all samples, but then, the "feel" of the sound will probably be a bit different from an actual Amiga because Renoise mixes audio without distortion and digitally, while the Amiga has analog components that affect the tone of the sound.
