[Renoise Remake] Mantronix - "Necroscope"
I completely remade Necroscope (Amiga MOD format chiptune by Mantronix) using Renoise, with as much channels as needed. This is similar to what I did with Elysium (https://youtu.be/PkXUQaKOviM ).
By using as much channels as needed, no notes were sacrificed, and samples were not cut off by other notes. I was also able to add notes that were missing from the original because of channel limitations, such as the high hats (which were prone to be interrupted by the bass and snare drums before). Besides those, some fade-out echoes were also extended because Renoise has more fine volume control (0x00 - 0x80) compared to the Amiga (0x00 - 0x40). It is possible that channel mixing and clipping is improved also so it might sound cleaner compared to the original. Also, since the original has all the drums on one channel, and there are times when the kick and the snare has to play at the same time, the original uses sample #3 which is a mixed sample of both the kick and snare. Since we use separate channels for the kick and snare, we are not subject to the same limitations so we use the original samples on separate channels. That way, we also mix with 32-bit precision instead of the 8-bit sample stored on the MOD file.
Note that this is a remake and not a cover. The aim is to make it sound as similar to the original as possible while removing the limitations of the original. In general, it should only sound "fuller" but never different. Or at least, that was the goal.
