This is a repair I made in late 2020. I've got a 2014 Macbook Pro and the hard disk finally failed, so I decided to replace it with a much faster SSD.
The machine is now MUCH faster and I expect to be able to keep using it for a few more years.
The repair was easy and I only spent about 100 USD on parts and tools. Keep in mind that if you want to try this yourself you need **the right tools**. Apple has a nasty habit of constantly changing the tools you need to crack open their laptops, so make sure you get the right ones. In my case I needed a "P5 pentalobe" screwdriver to get the case open.
Don't forget, you can always email me with questions or feedback at jdp@jeremypedersen.com ^_^
