Resident Evil 2 (PS1) Playthrough - Extreme Battle LV3 - Chris - No Saves/Deaths(Insane Difficulty!)
4To conclude the playthrough of Resident Evil 2, i will be doing the LV3 of Extreme Battle mode with no saves or deaths with Chris. Chris Redfield is unlocked after completing LV2 and hes the best character in this mode bar none. Chris has a unique handgun which is the Beretta M92F AKA the Samurai Edge, the Upgraded Shotgun and a Rocket launcher with 5 rounds on it. His Handgun not only has the same fire rate as Ada Wong but its also capable of Critical Shoots in which each shot has around a 5% chance of hitting a enemy with the Strength of a Magnum shot. Theres some misconceptions about the Critical Shots only ever working on zombies but its not true, it works on everything. When Chris shoots with the Upgraded Shotgun, he will not recoil like Leon and can settle the gun with ease giving him a insane fire rate with the Shotgun.
Now all of the above makes Chris Redfield a overpowered character right? indeed he is giving his tools but now... lets talk about the LV3 difficulty of Extreme Battle...
ITS INSANITY!!! Not only the ammo is scarce with most rooms ending up being empty but the amount of enemies is also pumped up. But the most annoying thing about LV3 is that, YOU CAN DIE IN 4 HITS!!! because the damage dealt on you is massively increased. It takes 3 zombie bites to put you into danger status and then the 4th finishes you off...If you get comboed, consider yourself done. Some attacks like the Licker`s Jump Slash becomes a instantkill too.
Now for the enemies in LV3, more Mr.Xs, more Gs and the most annoying one is this game by far... William Birkin G4( the Beast mutation) will be encountered randomly in rooms. William Birkin G4 just like G, takes 3 rockets to kill and because of the way he attacks, 90% of the time its impossible to not take damage...on a enemy that has a attack that can put you from fine to caution with one attack...Yeah...its not pretty.
Years ago i did finish this mode normally but i had to use the one save you get in LV3 and hope i got the RNG of the Gods in the run to suceed. That didnt ever happen without saving while recording so i just used the infinite ammo code to at least make it fair for the damage i take as you still have to be extremely careful as these old REs are next to impossible in some situations to not ever take hits (Extreme Battle LV3 has the most amount of faked runs on youtube with people claiming stuff but 99% of it is a TAS, segmented runs, savestate abuse etc).
In the Dreamcast version of Resident Evil 2, theres a mode at Arrange Mode called Nightmare which is basically the main game but the enemies deal as much damage as they do in here at LV3 while also giving every zombie durability similar to Brad Vickers....Lets just say that without infinite ammo you are not finishing the game.
And that concludes my playthrough of all the content of Resident Evil 2 Dual Shock version for the PS1, hope that everyone that watched it enjoyed it as well ;)
